Maurice, alongside his brother Charles, is probably one of the most famous admen today. Known by his many friends as someone who secures your trust, he started out at Haymarket before joining his brother’s fledging agency before putting his own name over the door with the formation of Saatchi & Saatchi in 1970. Famously ousted in 1995 by a shareholder revolt he immediately started a rival agency and took most of the senior staff with him. Always interested in politics he was created a life peer in 1996 and served as Chairman of the Conservative Party in 2003 and was given responsibility for running the 2005 general election. He has recommended that future conservative leaders establish “a moral purpose” as an ideology.
