Patricia was well known for her dynamic spirit. She started at JWT as a secretary in 1956 and soon moved on to copywriting (“Is she or isn’t she” for Harmony) before taking on a number of senior roles including Group Vice President and Group Director of External Affairs. A skilled public speaker and networker, Patricia was also appointed to a number of company boards including British Gas (later Centrica) and The Monopolies and Mergers Commission. Rigorous and principled she was also the perfect candidate to chair the Advertising Standards Authority and to become the first woman officer of the IPA (Hon Secretary 1980). She was tireless in promoting other able woman chairing The European Woman of Achievement Award. Her lasting legacy has been The Mann Award for Women, a financial bursary for personal development.
