John Hegarty is one of the world’s most creatively awarded and respected admen with a career that has spanned six decades and that has seen him centre stage in three of the UK’s most successful agencies. He was a founding shareholder of Saatchi & Saatchi, a co-founder of TBWA (1973) and a founding partner of Bartle Bogle Hegarty (1982). With a background in art direction John influenced and oversaw a new type of advertising more based on craft, keeping the idea simple, and an obsession with casting. His campaigns include: Levi’s (Launderette), The Guardian (3 little pigs), Audi (Yuppie) and Johnnie Walker (Keep Walking) and Boddingtons (Cream of Manchester). His books include: Hegarty on Advertising.
