Sir Ridley Scott(b. 1937)

    Known globally as the director of classics such as Gladiator, Blade Runner, and Alien, Ridley cut his teeth in the UK’s burgeoning TV ad industry. Setting up the production company Ridley Scott Associates in 1967, he spent the next 10 years making some of the best known British adverts alongside the likes of brother Tony Scott and director Alan Parker, most notably Hovis ‘Bike’ and Apple’s Super Bowl ad ‘1984’. In 2003 he was knighted for his services to the British film industry.
