Tim Delaney(b.1945)

Tim started his career in advertising as agency messenger and began copywriting at age 19 through sheer perseverance. He became creative director of BBDO aged 27 and managing director at 29. He also advised Prime Minister Jim Callaghan for the 1978/9 election campaign writing and shooting the 10-minute party political broadcasts while still running the agency. It was soon after this that he joined forces with Ron Leagas for the challenge of running his own agency, free from the influence of the big networks. Leagas Delaney remains an independent creative agency to this day. His contribution to the industry has been immeasurable – both in his output for brands such as Harrods and Sony, with and in his forthright views on advertising past, present and future.
